Achievements of the CBTF!

The objectives of the CBTF have been clearly met within the various partnerships, as the Fund continues to train and certify many Barbadian workers to improve the overall competitiveness of the country. To date, over 3,000 Barbadians have been trained in National and Caribbean Vocational Qualifications. The Fund has also resulted in the following:

  • New Garment Technology Workshop at the Samuel Jackman Prescod Institute of Technology which features computers equipped with Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software;
  • Development of Photovoltaic (PV) training centers with Mobile Training Kits at the Barbados Community College and the Samuel Jackman Prescod Institute of Technology;
  • State-of-the-art computer hardware and software for Animation Level 3 NVQ at the Barbados Institute of Management and Productivity;
  • Development of a Television and Film Production Facility at the Barbados Institute of Management and Productivity;
  • Increase in the number of trained Assessors and Internal & External Verifiers in Barbados;
  • Fostered a complimentary relationship between “soft” and technical skills;
  • Development of Competency-based Education and Training (CBET) Curriculum and occupational standards validated by the TVET Council
