The Competency Based Training Fund represents Component I of the Skills for the Future Programme, which was designed to support the Barbados Human Resource Development (HRD) Strategy. The Strategy supported the development and operationalization of National and Caribbean Vocational Qualifications and the implementation of the proposed National Qualifications Framework (NQF) for Barbados.
The HRD Strategy Milestone Ceremony took place on May 13, 2017 to highlight the achievements under the Strategy. The Competency Based Training Fund was highlighted under the theme “Competency-Based Education and Training" along with the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Council.
Mr. K. Anderson Lowe, Manager of the CMU and Mr. Henderson Eastmond, Executive Director of the TVET Council were interviewed about their role in the development of N/CVQs. This video was highlighted at the Milestone Ceremony and Ms. Wendy McClean, Manager of Technical Services at the TVET Council, accepted the award on behalf of the TVET Council.
