Barbadian Workers Trained in Industrial Mechatronics

Manufacturing has always played a pivotal role in the economic growth of Barbados. However, with changing technology and a shift to automation to handle complex jobs, the demand for skilled workers has significantly increased to meet the current and future needs of the sector. Mechatronics therefore provides the bridge the manufacturing sector requires to be efficient, by combining engineering in its various forms with both technical and mechanical skills.

The Barbados Community College and Roberts Manufacturing Company have partnered to provide competency-based training to Technicians, Engineers and Electricians in the National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Industrial Mechatronics Level 3. This training will provide workers in the manufacturing industry with the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities and includes training in key areas such Industrial Mechanics, Industrial Electrics, and Industrial Process Control.
